Send FREE SMS with Gmail

Send FREE SMS with Gmail - You can now send free text messages (SMS) to your friends directly from your Gmail account. Google’s email service is now expanding its reach with the new addition of this email to mobile feature.Sending and receiving a message from Gmail to any phone is free. When replying with an SMS from phone to Gmail, you will be charged a regular SMS rate by your mobile provider.

Like Chikka, Gmail’s FREE SMS service has a limit of 50 messages that you’re able to send to a mobile phone. However, when you receive an SMS message in Chat (for example when a phone user replies to one of your messages) your quota increases by five, up to a maximum of 50.If your quota goes down to zero at any point, it will increase back up to one 24 hours later. So, you won’t ever be locked out of the system.
1. Log into your Gmail account. In the Send SMS box above Chat, enter the phone number you want to send a SMS to.
2. In the dialog box, enter Contact name of the SMS recipient and check that country and phone number are correct. Then, click Save.
3. Type your message in the chat window and hit Enter.
4. Your message will be sent to the phone number you entered.

All conversations made are stored in your Chat history just like regular chats.
